Should you go for Gadget Detox

Gadget Detox / Social Media Detox / Digital Detox are common terms these days. Since Android took space in our Jeans either we are busy on social media or talking with friends. Today phone takes 70% of an average man's concentration. Often I spot people who have second priority to even take money. Phone is like lifeline for huge population. The funny part is 98% phone users simply don't know why they are using that app.
The Mobile Phone was a luxury, smartphone is pain in the ass. Cheap Data has made people mindless. And the this mindless phone users aid to traffic vows. Often its like one deaf is honking horn to other deaf.
I am not a fan of gadgets will I don't need it truly. Since I bought my first mobile some 15-20 years ago the phone was my bed partner lying few feet away from me but reachable even if I am in sleep. I get only calls with purpose. I bought smartphone much later that too in confusion if smartphone and app can be more productive.
Since I bought smartphone I used to watch couple videos for entertainment and fun after I pack of my days work. Often phone time was after dinner. I have notice couple of changes in me like little soared eyes (my eyesight is weak), and incomplete sleep. Since the problem was not intense I overlooked it.
However, matter of chance due to certain changes between my sitting space and bed I need to leave my phone on table. I can't take it to bed. As I may break it in sleep. Unknowingly since a weak or so I leaving my phone on table some 3 to feet away from me during nights. And surprisingly I get complete sleep now.
Same I experienced with my laptop also.
Moral of the story; gadgets are not your bed partner.
They hamper sleep pattern, health and productivity. Keep them away after use. They are not going to make you money while you sleep.
If you are busy entrepreneur and get many calls often chose for a private number for family and selected friends so they can call you nights also. Keep the business line switched off in nights or on auto answer mode.
So you can be better productive.
My smartphone uses are like this
Make and Answer Calls
Read and Reply Emails
Writing when I am away
Finding directions
Order Food every now and then
Connect my laptop with wifi
Read news
Watch TV Debates
Morning Alarm
Listen Music while eating
Booking a travel ticket or vehicle
IMO to speak to family over weekends
Pay Bills
All this do not not trouble me. This all is a necessity, the trouble is when you use a gadget mindlessly.
If your gadgets are troubling you change your habits. There is nothing like Gadget Detox. You have to make habit of wise use of gadgets.
