How much an app cost

New era is dawned by apps; android apps brought a revolution in the ways we use internet. I believe browser business gone straight to half because of apps. Today you can find apps for doing every other thing. There were days when doing MBA or MBBS was the style statement. Today, if you doing business, everyone will say Oh, WOW! Business gives opportunity to create more jobs and more wealth. You get ultimate recognition.

Oftentimes I stumble upon Startups who ask how much an app cost. In India, mostly app means Android App.

Business owners are interested in Android Apps because Android Devices are reaching to every palm. Similarly, one can deploy more apps for iPhone, Windows or PC.

Coming to the main point; how much an app cost? My answer is: Nothing. However, that would be very rude of me if I leave you in the hands of nothing. Precisely an app cost as per your requirement. All depends on how much experienced developer you are hiring and how much his / her time worth. A fresher app developer will cost you lesser than an experienced developer.

Also lot depends on geography, from where you are hiring a developer. For example a developer living in Mumbai may cost you much than a developer of similar caliber living somewhere in a remote village.

Cost of your app development shall depend on following factors:

  • Complexity of the app
  • Experience of the developer
  • Time required to develop the app

Please bear in mind; in app development documentation and testing are the main parts. Before you hire an app developer, work on documentation. Write down your requirements and brainstorm. Then call a developer and ask for quotes. Timeline is also important. Suppose your developer quotes 100 days and you want in less than 60 days. You may require paying much for extra time as he / she will be working extra hours.

Your app in question will serve to a purpose. Rigorous testing is important before submitting it to app store. A developer with some experience say one year can make a simple app in 2-3 days time and submit it to app store. What if app in the question rejected or it does not serve well to the purpose? For this reason app should be tested well to fulfill all your requirements.

  • When hiring a developer look for following qualities:
  • Previous Apps and Ratings
  • Developers Qualification
  • Developers Proficiency in English
  • Timeline
  • Cost

*** Also ask your developer if he / she will provide maintenance whether cost free or for what price?

Yes, your first concern “cost” is last concern for me. If developer is inexperienced ask him / her to write couple of lines of codes and host somewhere on a free repository like GITHub so you can check his / her skills before hiring.

Regarding Payment

That’s completely between you and developer. However, I will suggest you to keep 20% payment locked till app is approved.

The exact cost of an app shall depend on functionalities. For example if you need an app to merely collect user information for example email id, phone, and name; one such app may cost you nearly INR 10-20K

I am viewing this as this way;

  • You need an app
  • On the app page user will submit his / her personal information
  • The information shall go in your database
  • Further you will send notification to users on time to time.

Suppose you are hiring an app developer around 1 year experienced who will do the job in 15 days then he / she may ask you for a price of lump sum INR 10 – 20K.

Many developers offer free maintenance services for couple of months. If your developer is ready to work on lower prices perhaps he / she may ask for price towards maintenance.

Ask his / her future availability before hiring. You may need maintenance on time to time basis.

How app development process goes?

  • Client need an app
  • Client prepares App Documentation
  • Invite Quotes From Developers
  • Select One Cheap and And Best
  • Developer Starts Working
  • Creates UI/UX
  • App goes for Alpha Testing
  • Developer makes necessary changes based on test cases
  • App Goes for Beta Testing
  • Again small changes done as per test case
  • App Approved by client
  • App submitted to App Store
  • App Approved by App Store
  • (If disapproved then developers rework on the same and testing process repeats before submission)

It tastes great when water heats up till accurate temperature. Permalink is like appropriate flame to heat up water for making a cup of coffee. By definition, a permalink is the link url of a webpage that audience refer to others and put on a web page for reference. This is the same page url that displays on the address bar in a web browser. Once a permalink is created, you can never change it. If you will change it the reference url put by others across internet for your page simply will result in an error page, and nobody want to see error page.
